My Immortal by Evanescence essays In the late 1990s, Amy Lee and Ben Moody formed the band Evanescence, after meeting at a Christian Youth Retreat in Arkansas. Evanescence remained a duo until fellow Arkansas natives John LeCompt and Rocky Gray joined the group in 2000. That same year, Evanescence was signed to Wind-Up records, a Christian label based in Nashville Tennessee who also had signed the band Creed the year before. Their first big break was The Daredevil Soundtrack in 2003, a major motion picture with Ben Affleck as a comic book hero, where they submitted two tracks. They gained notoriety with their song My Immortal, written by Amy Lee, which immediately shot to the tops of the charts. Later released on the groups freshman release, Fallen in 2003, My Immortal went Double Platinum as a single and stayed in the Top Ten in the United Kingdom and the United States for over sixteen weeks. It is still getting a lot of airplay on the radio, even a year after its release. (MTV.com) When I first heard the song My Immortal, I was moved. I originally thought that the song was about a woman who has lost her husband or boyfriend, but found out otherwise. Amy Lee, the lead singer, wrote the song about the death of her younger sister. She died when she was six years old, and the tragedy deeply affected Amy. She has said in interviews that she has been haunted by her sisters ghost ever since. To me, this song meant holding onto a lost love. It expressed every persons fear of losing someone you love, and dealing with the memories that never seem to fade when they are gone. This song makes me remember people that have passed that I loved, and helps me to remember the reasons why I loved them. ...

Herds of sheep and other livestock decreased and a reduction in the farmland devoted to fodder was observed. Hungary had rich farmlands, while the Soviet Central Asian countries had a more harsh environment, suitable to raising sheep for wool and wool exports. Recent developments as cited by the OECD indicate that there are new markets opening for the textile industry, and, like any other nation, Hungary has an opportunity to avail itself of that opportunity, and return to a pre World War II economic way of life that served it well. The model for income food consumption relationship values by Rask and Rask is analyzed. The impact of economic development on consumption of food products depends heavily on the level of per capita income, as demonstrated by the Engel Curve. Introduction The purpose of this assignment is to explore the professional responsibilities of the nurse and their role in safeguarding vulnerable patients, all of which are based around a fictitious scenario. The scenario is centred on a patient named Margaret and is going to be used to identify any vulnerability issues Margaret may have. Margaret could be identified as been vulnerable, as she is an 89 year old lady who is suffering from a heart condition. Margaret is currently living with her daughter and has said that her mother’s health has begun to deteriorate.Margaret is becoming very confused and forgetting to take her medication which has resulted in numerous admissions to hospital. No consent was needed on this occasion as it is a fictitious patient. Based around this fictitious scenario, the aim is to discuss and identify vulnerability and any issues arising from it. Exploring all aspects of vulnerability involving all models and discussing confidentiality, looking a t the importance of it and why it should be maintained.This assignment will also look at the mental capacity act and how the nurse and other healthcare professionals assess the patient for capacity and use the models of assessment. All these are in place to protect the patient’s health and well-being and patient rights. Communication is another important skill for any nurse to have. Good communication skills are essential in providing a high standard of care, which will be explored and discussed in detail.It will also explore what accountability and responsibility is within the nurse’s role. Frenemies in Othello by William Shakespeare - 1584 Words

â€Å"Friends, countrymen, lend me your ears.† This line is said by Mark Antony to garner the attention of his countrymen in arguably one of Shakespeare’s more popular plays, Julius Caesar. The iconic line is one of Shakespeare’s better known addresses. In his plays repetition functions as an indicator of something to which the audience should pay particular attention. Specifically, in the play Othello, the repetition of the word â€Å"friend† is relevant and draws the audience’s attention to relationships of a superficial or forced nature, as the relationship between Othello and Iago, Cassio and Bianca, and as a rhetorical device. Through close reading of the play, one sees that â€Å"friend† functions as a versatile device used for manipulation. In†¦show more content†¦Like Cassio, Emilia uses â€Å"friend† as a rhetorical device. After Othello tells Desdemona that she has been unfaithful, Desdemona is (understandably) moved and upset. Explaining the situation to Iago, Emilia defends Desdemona’s emotional reaction by saying, â€Å"Hath she forsook so many noble matches/ Her father and her country and her friends/ To be called a whore? Would it not make one weep?† (Shakespeare 4.2.129-131). Desdemona is bewildered and Emilia is being a true friend by defending her. Earlier mentioned in this paper, Brabanzio brings accompaniment to make his point about Othello enchanting Desdemona. Likewise, Emilia builds Desdemona’s case by bringing in the word â€Å"friends.† There is textual evidence from Brabanzio that Desdemona turned down many Venetian suitors. Quite obviously, Brabanzio is Desdemona’s father who was forsaken, and the country Desdemona forsakes is Italy because she married a moor. Though Othello’s origins are unclear yet he is a dedicated servant of Venice, one thing the play makes abundantly clear is that Desdemona is betraying her country by not marrying one of its natives. Brabanzio even says his daughter is, â€Å"of spirit so still and quiet that her motion/Blushed at herself† (Shakespeare 1.3.95-96).
